Core Responsibilities
- Write full-stack web applications that implements state-of-the-art web development technology to command-and-control real autonomous aircraft systems for group 1-5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
- Use map libraries to display mission elements, platforms, and control interfaces that provide operators with real-time visibility into trusted autonomy software.
- Build and deploy docker images to verify and validate human machine interface (HMI) and command and control (C2) capabilities during real-time simulation.
- Collaborate with autonomy engineers to implement production level software that will be used to control autonomous UAS
- Collaborate with government customers or 3rd party UAS vehicle vendors to integrate EpiSci autonomy software stacks onto OEM UAS hardware or command and control stations.
- Collaborate with domain experts and DoD warfighters (ex. Special Operations Forces, Fighter Pilots, etc.) to connect human and machine teams.
- Support live flight test of autonomy software on F16s, group 1-5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/related engineering field.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience developing full-stack web GUIs for command and control of robotic systems.
- Technical:
- Experience building human machine interfaces for robotic systems
- Experience working on frontend applications with data-intensive or map-based systems
- Experience building frontend technologies from scratch using React/Redux, React Native or similar JavaScript frameworks
- Familiarity with hooking front end applications into backend stacks like node.js, python, exjs or similar frameworks
- Experience/interest in hooking front end applications into back-end stacks
- Experience with developing with Docker containers and images
- Experience using git, Visual Studio Code, GitLab and artifact registries such as Artifactory
- Nice to Haves
- Passion for solving complex problems with little supervision in a fast-moving team.
- Ability to self-regulate and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, frequently changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Willingness to do what’s needed to enable mission success.
- Travel
- Willing to travel as projects require, usually for demonstrations or deployments. Estimated average travel is 2-5 days every other month (10-20%).

- Must be a U.S. Citizen. (Mandatory)
- Must be eligible for a U.S. SECRET security clearance. (Mandatory)
Preferred Qualifications
- Education Requirements:
- Master’s degree in computer science/related engineering field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience developing full-stack web GUIs for command and control of robotic systems.
- Technical:
- Experience working projects related to national security for one or more government agencies, especially work involving aviation
- Experience with Frontend Technologies:Typescript, Vue, Android Java, and Army Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK)
- Familiarity with modern C++ development (2020, 2017)
- Familiarity with GIS (visualization) tool and libraries
- Interdisciplinary background, with evidence of continual learning
- Travel
- Willingness to relocate to EpiSci facilities near Destin, FL, Washington DC, Ann Arbor, MI, or San Diego, CA.
What will it be like to work at EpiSci? As an engineer at EpiSci, you’ll work closely with a team of diversely skilled engineers to innovate software solutions to complex problems related to networked collaborative autonomous systems. You’ll attend the occasional project briefing and regular stand-ups, but mostly you’ll be focused on writing the code necessary to level up US defensive capabilities; you’ll be asked to travel to on-site demonstrations of these integrated solutions. You’ll develop cool things that you’ll get to test with cool people in cool places.
