Description
FlightWave, a subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill a Sr. Electrical Engineer position. We are a dynamic and growing drone technology company focused on the manufacturing of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, fabricating, testing, and integrating a range of Electronic systems into flight hardware. The ideal candidate will have a background in hardware development and design in a UAS environment or similar industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design using schematic capture and pcb layout tools
- Prototype, validate, and prepare designs for scalable manufacturing
- Hardware development using microcontrollers, IMU, and similar sensors
- Develop hardware for automation for manufacturing
- Draft assembly procedures, inspection and test procedures, test reports, and product requirements documents
- Get hand on with NPI process, including building hardware systems yourself
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of direct industry experience in a design-focused role. Outstanding problem solving, oral & written communication skills
- Minimum 5 years experience working microcontrollers, IMU, and similar sensors
- Minimum 2 years of experience in schematic design and PCB layout
- Knowledge of with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMM, & automation of tests)
- Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, USB, etc
Additional Desired Attributes and Skills
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies
- Low-level device driver development
- Comfort with typical embedded systems tools, compilers, debuggers and IDE
- Strong C programming skills
- Experience in high rate defense focus production
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while using computers, lab equipment, and testing tools.
- Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, soldering irons, and assembly instruments with precision.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment or prototypes weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Comfort working in a lab, workshop, or manufacturing floor environment that may involve occasional exposure to noise, fumes, or particulates.
- Vision adequate for close inspection of small electronic components, circuit boards, and fine wiring.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or reaching required during hardware setup, integration, and testing.
- Ability to wear required PPE (such as safety glasses, gloves, or anti-static garments) when working in designated areas.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours on occasion to support project deadlines or field testing activities.

Salary $130,000-$165,000 DOE, complemented by a generous equity award and annual target bonus.
