Position Summary


FlightWave, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is seeking an Assembly Supervisor to oversee daily electromechanical assembly operations for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This role is responsible for leading a team of assemblers and technicians, ensuring product quality, safety, and on-time delivery. The supervisor drives continuous improvement through the application of Lean manufacturing principles and maintains a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and adherence to standard work. We are a growing drone technology company focused on serving defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership & Daily Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assembly technicians in a low-mix, low-to-medium volume electromechanical environment.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign work to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor workflow, resolve bottlenecks, and adjust resources as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.

Technical & Quality Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for assembly of electromechanical drone components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical assembly issues, escalating to engineering when needed.
  • Verify workmanship compliance to IPC, company standards, and aerospace best practices.
  • Partner with Quality to address defects, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Lean & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead daily QDIP/stand-up meetings and maintain visual management boards.
  • Implement and sustain 5S, standard work, takt planning, and other Lean tools.
  • Identify waste in processes and drive structured kaizen/3P events.
  • Develop and maintain capacity models and process flow mapping.

Team Development

  • Train and mentor associates on electromechanical assembly skills, safety practices, and Lean methods.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage attendance, and maintain labor discipline.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality to ensure material availability, manage changes, and support new product introductions.
  • Provide feedback for manufacturability improvements and assist in building pilot units.

Required Qualifications


  • 3–5+ years of experience in electromechanical assembly, aerospace assembly, or related environment.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles (5S, standard work, visual management, flow).
  • Hands-on ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and build documentation.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production reporting.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Desired Qualifications


  • Experience in unmanned systems, aerospace, or defense manufacturing.
  • IPC-A-610, IPC-WHMA-A-620, or similar certification.
  • Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction).
  • Working knowledge of root-cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, A3).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in different environments and heat

Compensation: $77k - $110k, plus generous annual equity package and potential bonuses.
