Radiant is an El Segundo, CA–based clean energy startup developing the world’s first portable, zero-emissions nuclear microreactor. Our Kaleidos 1MW system is designed to replace diesel generators in remote and mission-critical environments. Radiant plans to test its development reactor by 2026, aiming to be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. As Radiant scales toward commercialization, strong enterprise systems are
critical to execution, compliance, and cost discipline.
Role: Production Planner
Radiant is seeking a Production Planner responsible for ensuring production
build plans align with company milestones and are supported by complete,
accurate, and available material kits. This role focuses on translating production
build operation and routing to kit readiness, identifying inventory gaps,
coordinating shortage resolution, ensuring internal and external production
activities align with build schedules, and coordinating material movement
through internal work centers.
The Production Planner will work closely with Supply Chain, Warehouse, Quality,
Engineering, and internal manufacturing teams to ensure material availability,
internal fabrication readiness, and outside processing activities are coordinated
to support build execution. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented,
proactive, and capable of coordinating cross-functional teams to solve
operational problems quickly.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Production Operation Planning
Work with manufacturing engineering to maintain daily, weekly, and monthly build plans based on milestones, hardware availability, and internal capacity
Develop and maintain production schedules for manufacturing work centers
Sequence jobs to maximize throughput and minimize changeovers
Kit Readiness Analysis
Analyze production kits to determine material readiness prior to scheduled builds.
Identify shortages, zero-inventory conditions, and system discrepancies that prevent kit completion.
Maintain visibility of kit readiness status and escalate risks that could impact build schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and system availability to ensure materials are available for production builds.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to inventory locations, quantity errors, or system availability settings.
Work with warehouse teams to ensure inventory is accurately received, stored, and available for picking.
Shortage Resolution & Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate resolution of material shortages across Procurement, Receiving, Quality, Engineering, and Production.
Track and manage actions required to resolve shortages, including receiving backlog clearance, quality inspection completion, internal fabrication builds, capacity constraints, or purchase order placement.
Maintain clear ownership and accountability for shortage resolution.
Identify material blocked in receiving, inspection, or quality hold processes and coordinate closure actions.
Work with quality teams to prioritize inspection runs and release material needed for production.
Internal Production & Outside Processing Coordination
Coordinate and track internal production activities required to support production builds.
Monitor progress of internally fabricated components and ensure machining operations align with production priorities.
Manage and track outside processing (OSP) activities including heat treatment, plating, coatings, specialty machining, cleaning, welding, inspection, and other vendor-based processing steps.
Ensure materials requiring outside processing are scheduled, shipped, tracked, and returned in alignment with build schedules.
Work with manufacturing and supply chain teams to resolve delays or capacity constraints affecting internal or external production steps.
Production Support
Support kit picking and production readiness by ensuring required subassemblies and internally fabricated components are scheduled and available.
Coordinate with internal manufacturing teams when subassemblies must be built to complete kits.
Data Integrity & Process Improvement
Investigate part number mismatches, BOM discrepancies, or inventory data issues affecting kit availability.
Track actual production vs planned schedule to identify adherence issues.
Improve processes related to inventory visibility, receiving throughput, and kit readiness tracking.
Develop dashboards or tracking tools to improve visibility into production material readiness.
Required Qualifications And Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field.
2+ years of experience in production planning, materials planning, manufacturing coordination, or supply chain operations.
