About the Role
We are hiring a Chief of Staff to the Chief Nuclear Officer to help drive our regulatory affairs strategy and execution, as well as stakeholder engagement. This role acts as a deputy to the CNO, operating at the center of our work with government agencies, regulators, and policymakers.
You will help turn strategy into action. That means aligning teams, driving priorities, tracking progress, and ensuring nothing crucial slips. You will work across licensing, policy, regulatory, and communications efforts to keep momentum high and execution tight.
This role is best suited for someone who is structured, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environments.
What You’ll Do:
Act as Deputy to the CNO
Operate as a trusted extension of the Chief Nuclear Officer
Step into meetings, discussions, and initiatives on behalf of the CNO as needed
Ensure follow-through on key decisions, priorities, and external engagements
Oversee intergovernmental relations, both state and international.
Drive Regulatory Affairs Strategy & Execution
Partner with the CNO to shape and execute regulatory affairs strategy
Translate priorities into clear plans across federal, state, and regulatory stakeholders
Support engagement with agencies such as DOE, NRC, and other key partners
Own Planning, OKRs, and Tracking
Lead annual and quarterly planning for the regulatory affairs function
Build and manage OKRs to track progress against key priorities
Monitor key initiatives and flag risks, gaps, and dependencies early
Lead Cross-Functional Coordination
Align internal teams across engineering, licensing, legal, and communications
Ensure consistent messaging and coordination across all external-facing efforts
Drive execution across complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
Executive Operations
Prepare briefings, materials, and talking points for senior leadership and external stakeholders
Establish and run operating rhythms (staff meetings, reporting, planning cadences)
Bring structure, clarity, and accountability to a fast-moving environment
What We’re Looking For
7–12+ years of experience in government affairs, policy, strategy, consulting, or program management
Strong executive presence
Clear, concise communicator
Experience working with or within federal agencies, Congress, or highly regulated industries
Strong understanding of energy, nuclear, defense, or infrastructure policy preferred
Proven ability to operate in ambiguity and drive outcomes across multiple stakeholders
Strong project management and organizational skills
Bias for action with high attention to detail
