Systems Integration Engineer

Radiant is seeking a driven Systems Engineer to manage the integration of reactor hardware with customer requirements and regulation. This role is critical to bringing the world’s first portable nuclear microreactor to commercialization in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will bring strong program management skills to interact directly with all engineering disciplines, influencing the full hardware lifecycle by providing critical feedback to guide design of future reactors.

At the same time this person will interact directly with customers to understand their requirements and demands, representing those interests internally while also negotiating to ensure a streamlined and thoughtful regulatory path is obtained. This role requires someone who can think both pragmatically and analytically, who enjoys technical work and operational execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and understand system and component designs to assess regulatory compliance and ability to meet customer requirements.

  • Interpret regulatory requirements and communicate them internally to achieve compliance or seek exemptions when necessary

  • Participate in design and technical reviews, organize data inputs into papers and deliverable reports

  • Collaborate across departments to organize regulatory deliverables and documentation

  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently to keep projects and deliverables on schedule

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering

  • 2+ years of full-time experience with engineering problem solving in design, analysis, or test of systems

  • Experience with complex hardware and processes related to manufacturing, integration, testing or operations

  • Applied understanding of requirement derivation, negotiation and verification or experience with the product design process especially as it relates to defining systems, interfaces and specifications.

  • Ability to convey complex technical information at succinctly and clearly for different audiences (executive, engineer, non-technical)

  • Comfortable communicating difficult messages and negotiating while maintaining long term collaboration

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with Systems Engineering, Mission Integration, Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Full product life cycle experience with hardware that has seen production.

  • Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission

  • Must work 100% onsite at Radiant’s El Segundo headquarters
